Each class includes a 30-minute lunch break. Students bring their own lunch.

Class size is capped at 15 students to ensure plenty of 1:1 instruction as needed.

Cost is $20 for OCAC members and $35 for non-members.

Participants must register and pay online at OvertonCountyArts.org one week in advance so the instructor can prepare properly.  If you have any problems registering, please contact us at info@overtoncountyarts.org.

All supplies provided for Beginner and Intermediate classes.

Fees can be waived for Overton County students ages 12 and up.

Beginner

Beginners--this class is for you! You might have always thought that you'd like to draw or paint, but you simply never had the time or opportunity to do so. There are a million reasons why so many of us don't simply pick up a pencil or brush and try. But now you can. And you should. We're making it easy and fun. This class will teach you the skills you need to "see like an artist" and produce a completed still life oil painting.

  • No previous art experience needed

  • All supplies provided

  • Supportive, nonjudgemental environment

Intermediate

Take the next step! New artists who have taken our Beginner class are invited to learn how to fly solo. This class will add to (and reinforce) the skills you learned in the Beginner class. You'll develop a deeper understanding of the principals and techniques used to produce a more developed still life painting, whether in class or later on your own.

  • If you're not an absolute beginner, but want to paint--this class is for you

  • You can retake this class as many times as you want

  • For repeat students, instructor will tailor assignments to your needs

Topics may include:

  • Portraiture

  • Plein air painting

  • Watercolor painting
