Inaugural Paint Livingston
Plein Air Competition
October 3-5, 2024
Downtown Livingston, Tennessee bustled with plein air painters, art enthusiasts and fun activities for the whole family during the inaugural Paint Livingston Plein Air Competition on Saturday October 5th, 2024.
The center piece of this event was a group of professional and amateur plein air painters who set up their easels in and around Livingston Thursday, Friday & Saturday to paint and compete for $3,450 in cash prizes.
The plein air competition was judged by acclaimed artist Connie Erickson. Ms. Erickson works in oil and pastel and has exhibited in numerous juried exhibitions and solo shows. She has received many awards for her portrait, still life, and landscape paintings at regional and national competitions. She helped found and was elected first president of The Chestnut Group: Plein-Air Painters for the Land in Nashville, Tennessee. To learn more about Erickson, visit www.connieericksonstudio.com.
The plein air competition and the Quick Draw competition were open to all artists both professional and amateur. Thirty-eight artists from Nashville, Knoxville, and throughout the Upper Cumberland registered to compete. Paintings in acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastels, and gouache were accepted.
The exhibit, the award ceremony and all competition-related events on Saturday were free and open to the public.
